Thursday photo prompt: Calm #writephoto

This is Sue’s photoprompt this week:
You can find all the details here:

Of course, it all looks so calm now.
The stream bends gently round its natural path, trees lining the banks like some kind of guard of honour, the shallows attracting waterfowl, wild birds and butterflies.
Go back a year and there were no lines of guidance as the meadow was under six feet of water. Boats were cradled in the treetops where they stayed until the waters receded leaving them aground and shattered. The irony was they had not been in the vicinity when the storm struck!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Tha sounds like the voice of experience…

    • Actually it happened in 2007 so before we got the boat, and the marina was completely cut off. Boat owners with dinghies were doing the rounds with the basics, and about a mile down river, boats were literally adrift in fields and half way up trees.
When the water level rose, so did we and it made our gantry less steep , sometimes even horizontal. On a couple of occasions people were evacuated off their berths on the river as they couldn’t get to land. It was great how everyone worked together.

I thought it looked like receding flood waters too. The power of nature.
