Good Morning all!

For once, the weather guys were spot on and the forecast we watched in the hospital waiting room yesterday has come to fruition. IT IS CHUCKING IT DOWN!
The day is like nobody’s turned the sun on, dark and dismal, more like November than October, yet our regular walkers are out there with their dogs, all two and four legses sporting jackets and rain macs. If we go out in it, it will be the full yellow gear.
Maggie has done the business in the garden and is curled up on her cushion. She doesn’t seem to like getting wet these days, unless of course it’s from the feet up on the beach.
Photo: Feb 2018 but the position’s the same.

As a kid, on days like this if it wasn’t a school day, we would cover the table with newspaper and get the paints out. Mum always kept a jam jar in the cupboard for our water and brushes, and we had a variety of books to choose from. It was always something popular in Christmas Stockings.

I liked those magic books where you didn’t need paints as by brushing over the picture with water revealed the colours beneath and nothing spoilt by going outside the lines.
We’ve got no plans today, no shopping that needs doing, so I might get the kit out again and use some of the new papers and toppers I bought the other day. I have a couple of letters to write, so it might be nice to do them on pretty cards rather than writing paper.

Lunch today is chicken curry. I’ve got things in to soak and the gentle aroma of curry and turmeric is wafting through the house.
In case you’re wondering, I soak my sultanas (3½ syns for 25g) in a mix of cornflour (½ syn), stock cube, turmeric, curry powder and sugar (1 syn) and hot water so that they plump up and are nice and juicy in the meal.
No poppadoms today as I didn’t buy any (2½ syns each) but I’ve got mushrooms and peppers to pack it out a bit as it’s only a small chicken breast.
So, no ‘free’ dinner today, and although my ingredients attract a total of 5 syns, that is for the two of us, so my share is 2½.
Photo: chicken curry from June 2018. Today’s won’t be this big.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Sometimes it’s nice to have a rainy day to catch up on those indoor chores.
I remember those ‘magic’ paint books, and also ones you could shade with a pencil to reveal a picture. Great fun. 🙂

  3. We are having our first bout of fall weather. It was downright cold this morning (45 degrees F). It’s been a long time coming. These days are good to catch up on blogs and reading.

    • I’ve actually written four letters and five emails today, so caught up with everybody. Dinner was great, too much for the two of us, so Hubby’s having a twofer tomorrow. I’d prepared some of the blog challenges so this evening will be spent doing those. The rain has hardly let up all day, though Hubby has managed to get Maggie out for a walk, then twice for a pee in the garden but she will not co-operate as she wants her second walk!
