Thursday photo prompt: Bone #writephoto

Every Thursday at noon GMT, Sue publishes one of her photos as a writing prompt.
Join in her challenge and write a piece of poetry or prose based on the photo below.

This is all that is left of me,
A lowly creature tired and weak,
Who lay down to rest
And slept for eternity.
My eyes are long gone,
My head now detached and empty,
Picked clean by scavengers,
A skull gleaming in the sun.
My bones are not in this vicinity,
They may be scattered,
Stolen, or buried elsewhere
In another animal’s pantry.
In life, what was I?
Hungry, struggling to survive:
Full circle I became food for others
When I knew it was my time to die.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! Due to a nightmare of a house sale in 2014, 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat until April 2017. We made strong friendships both on and off the water, and enjoyed swan and duck families for neighbours. Sadly times change and we now reside in a small bungalow a short distance from the beach on the Lincolnshire coast.
