Frank welcomes us all to Week 129 of the Tuesday Photo Challenge!
I’ve written about this before, but one of the best birthday celebrations I can remember has to be my Mum’s 80th in 2002.
Mum was staying with us for the weekend, and on Sunday, we suggested taking her for a KFC as she didn’t have them very often.
She got herself ready, and was a little upset as the zip had broken in her trousers and she didn’t have a spare pair. Anything I had would have swamped her, but Hubby came to the rescue with a safety pin and away we went.
On the way, I said we could try Frankie and Benny’s as they did a good menu and she might prefer it to chicken and chips seeing as it was her birthday.
She didn’t seem to mind, so we pulled up in the car park and went in, me leading the way.
Everyone at the centre table stood up and started singing Happy Birthday, the rest of the patrons joining in and they all applauded when a surprised and blushing Mum took her seat at the head of the table.
Mum was overwhelmed as the family (four generations then) were all there, this celebration being arranged by Hubby and myself.
Mum called me over to one side and said quietly
‘But I’ve got a safety pin in my trousers!’
I told her not to worry as no-one would notice, it was a special day and to enjoy her dinner.
It wasn’t over either as there was a buffet laid on at my sister’s for family and friends in the afternoon /early evening, with a cake smuggled in by me when we’d picked Mum up on the Friday. A work colleague had made it for me and decorated it with tiny sugarcraft forgetmeknots. It was beautiful.
It was an unforgettable day and a memory I shall always treasure.

Splendid story, and precious moments with your Mum on her 80th birthday. A blessing for her and the family.

She had a lovely day, and we have the lovely memory.
What a little beautiful story. We all need such memories to make our lives special.
Thank you. My Mum enjoyed it, and that was what really mattered.
