The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Oct. 6/18

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “card.”

We have cards for practically every occasion, and some of them in my opinion are an absolute rip off.
In addition to the Happy Birthday, Anniversary, Christmas, Valentine’s Day (not that I got many) and Easter Cards, I didn’t object to Mother’s Day, or Father’s Day, but then they introduced Grandmother’s Day (another Mother) and Grandfather’s Day (another Dad), then Grandparents Day (anniversary of what, becoming a grandparent for the first time? Hell if I know).
Mustn’t forget the Thank You cards either. Right.
Fair enough, but the boffins and moneymakers decided to further personalise that to The Boss and Thank You Teacher cards, not that I would have sent one to any of mine at school. I do admit to sending a Thank You card from the dog to my Mum for looking after him.
Waiting to see the ‘Thank you for being an Asshole’ cards for bad drivers next.

Makes me glad I make mine.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! Due to a nightmare of a house sale in 2014, 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat until April 2017. We made strong friendships both on and off the water, and enjoyed swan and duck families for neighbours. Sadly times change and we now reside in a small bungalow a short distance from the beach on the Lincolnshire coast.

In yesteryears we would get “a” card and write our own message in it. That used to be more fun and the cards were individualized.

It’s more personal if you make your own cards. I remember my grandson making a thank you card for his teacher. It was so sweet and touching.
