Splish Splash, taking a bath

I’ve just got back from walking Maggie.
It’s another beautiful day but with a temperature I can cope with as there is a lovely breeze. Usual route this morning, and I was out for about half an hour.

There was a lot of activity on the lake this morning, and Nature never ceases to amaze me.
I’ve gotten use to the ducks disappearing underwater only to reappear several yards further up. Even the little ones are bobbing up and down now, which is wonderful and amusing to see as they shake off the water. True what they say, water off a duck’s back, not so much as a drop left.
This morning was the turn of the geese, and either they’re all up for a hot date tonight, or it’s just been too hot and they’re cooling off. But swimming underwater? Well, what do you know!
There were a group of about forty around the path opposite to where Maggie and I re-enter the park, and the noise was ‘refreshing’. Wings were spread and they were ducking and diving having a wonderful time. Some were taking off and then dive bombing their colleagues, or maybe siblings as it’s difficult to tell the goslings from adults at a distance now. It all seemed to be a bit of good clean fun though. Wish I’d had the camera!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Sounds like a lovely walk and I’m glad it is a little cooler for you 🙂

  2. One of the best parts about walking a dog is you get to see so much of life that would be overlooked otherwise.
We have loons here who dive and then reappear out of the water some distance later. Molly Malamute loves to watch them and just about any bird.
The sun’s angle is slightly different this week with the sun moving into other windows of the house. (We run around opening and shutting blinds in scorching hot weather to keep the house cool – the cat hates having her views limited. There was a slight breeze this morning – anything helps! Have a great weekend

    • I love watching the birds here. Maggie doesn’t bother them and they’re getting used to us I think as they don’t flap away, though I do give them space. It’s been much cooler today, so what do I do? Bake cake!!

  3. Glad to hear you had some reasonable temperatures for walking!
