Wordle #204

Here are our words for today and the challenge to use at least ten in our post.

Sawbones ((n.) a surgeon or physician)
Latex Gloves
Preta (n.)) a wandering or disturbed ghost)

The illicit Sawbones crouched down to retrieve his latex gloves in the makeshift operating theatre in his cellar.
He felt he was doing the people a service, as bones were breakable and he could set them in mortar at a fraction of the cost of a bona-fide doctor.
Should the limb wither, his answer to all was to bleed then cauterize the infected part, and if that failed (as it nearly always did), cut it off.
The mournful cry of the Preta could be heard across the marsh as they wandered in vain searching for their missing body parts.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. I think the wordle invites a scary/gruesome tale and I think you captured it perfectly

Yikes. Of course, many of the words lend themselves to a medical ghost story, which I did myself, but I added a private detective for good measure.

    • MOH is reading a book on Trafalgar which is a little gruesome in places, so I had a helping hint for my post! Yesterday’s Sunday Whirl was based on bathing the dog!

      • James Pyles says:

We got the grandkids early yesterday, so I didn’t have time for writing. Plenty of storytelling though, since my nine-year-old grandson and I make up stories together. Right now, we are a couple of super-powered mutants living with about 40,000 others in a colony on another planet. Great fun.

      • Are your papers all in order and have you all got visas James? Enjoy your time with the young ones. They can be a great inspiration.

      • James Pyles says:

LOL. Actually, we were part of 100,000 who broke out of a government prison on a remote island. Some of us settled for a while in The Savage Land. Then an alien spaceship crashed nearby containing the vanguard of an invasion force and a captive Bruce Banner (who quickly turned into the Incredible Hulk). After many adventures, some of Earth’s mutants decided to get away from humans entirely by taking the ship to another planet. Thus shots and Visa do not apply. 😀

      • James, this is brilliant!

  3. Michael says:

Good one Di, gave me a smile on my dial this morning…
