Hurrah! MOH arrived this afternoon just after 3pm.
Lunch was prepared (cottage pie with roast potatoes and veg) and I just had to turn the cooker on, but first ……………. CUP OF TEA!
Poor Bud was like a hearthrug on legs……….. scrap that, he is a hearthrug on legs………… and the heat has been getting to him.
Luckily today is a lot cooler than it has been, so better for travelling, though MOH had a nightmare journey.
He set off at 6 am, so it took him 9 hours, with a couple of potty breaks and a snack. He hit major traffic on the M5 and M42, as well as getting caught up on the outskirts of Birmingham.
Of course, we can sympathise with the journey time, it taking us 7½ hours to get down to him in February ready for Mum’s funeral the following day, and 9½ hours on the return trip after Hubby’s DVT diagnosis. We avoid the motorways anyway as most we’d use have long term roadworks in progress.
Still, he has arrived safe and sound. We have fed, watered and exercised him (walk round the park), and now we have all retired. The temperature is a good three degrees less indoors than it was yesterday, so hopefully we should all sleep well.
Plans for tomorrow are……………. no idea!
That’s what so good about it, we don’t plan anything that could go belly up and take each day as it comes. First order of the day will be walking the dogs, and you never know, we may find ourselves having a 99p breakfast to start the day.
Note:
The scrabble and cards are still in the cupboard. He was too tired to think straight, and we wouldn’t want to take advantage of that!
Ugh! Sounds like a nightmare of a drive. I’m glad he has arrived – and have a wonderful day tomorrow, whatever you decide to do!
It’s not a nice journey, whichever way you go, so imagine us doing that trip in one day to visit my Mum as my sister’s hospitality skills are in the minus figures 😦
Ugh.
What kind and considerate hosts, though I suspect when all are rested the gloves of the scrabble board will come off?
I’ve got rid of the guys today, but Scrabble is on the cards for later.
That’s a long tri8p. Hope he’s staying several days to recover!
He’s welcome to stay as long as he wishes. We never put a time frame on it, and apparently there’s somewhere he wants to go to get some spare parts for a bike he’s rebuilding, and that’s nearer to us than him, so it works out pretty well.
