5th July FOWC with Fandango: Curtail

Ah, this applies practically every day as I am forever trying to find ways to curtail my expenditure, especially food as prices are going up all the time.
I go shopping armed with a list, and in the past there would be a price alongside each item. This was to make sure I kept within budget as if the item was more expensive than my list, I either bought less (ie 3 tins instead of 4) or didn’t buy it at all.
It’s hopeless shopping when I’m hungry though………. all the yummy things seem to be on special offer, so I would have ‘Treat’ on my list with £2 by the side.

It always works in theory, but in order to truly curtail anything, I daren’t go shopping alone!!!!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Seems that each time I go to the grocery store these days, the same items I bought last time cost a little more this time. Either that or they cost the same but the net weight of the contents of the package has gone down.

    • fact of life, pay the same and get less. The manufacturers use the same size wrapper on chocolate bars but when you push the contents up to the seam, there’s a awful lot of space between the other ends!
