Spam, but not the edible kind

So far,  WP’s Akismet has protected my site from over 12,200 spam comments, for which I am grateful.

I must admit though I am finding it rather funny lately as most of the recent ones are offering me money by means of loans, cash plans, or credit.

It’s ridiculous as I haven’t a hope of paying anything back, and our bank is still laughing when I asked how much we could borrow just out of interest!
The comments are coming in mainly on old posts, most of which are totally irrelevant to anything I’ve written about budgets.

The other thing very popular in my queue is gambling and casinos.
The nearest I come to gambling these days is a raffle ticket once a week at darts, and even then I don’t buy one every week. We don’t even do the Lottery anymore.

So, all I can say to these sites who want to give me dosh in return for heart failure or the proverbial arm and a leg, please don’t. You’re wasting your time.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I have been seeing a rash of spam comments that appear to be linked to Followers accounts, and simply say “What?” There has also been a huge increase in Spam written in Russian! I guess it’s creative …even if it is pointless! 🙂

    • According to some other bloggers I follow, the ‘What?’ phantom has been around for a while. And I’ve had the foreign stuff (and symbols too) turn up. It just tickles me that they want to give me so much money ($1m yesterday), or today offer me a discount on viagra!

Ah yes ….. the lure of money! I have declined so many offers to help bring millions of dollars into Canada from Nigeria … and they would give me a fair % just for using my bank account! Such nice generous people!

      • yep……… familiar with those too, especially in my working days.

    An amusing post. 😀
It’s annoying to find yourself flooded with spam, whatever the topic.
Akismet also catches most of my spam, though I’ve only had around 5000 so far. I recently got many comments like “What?” on other people’s comments and also found them “Liking” comments, mine and others.
This is one reason I have my spam filter set to the highest and also close comments on my posts after 30 days. But they still get through!

I’ve been getting a lot of spam lately about tennis/basketball shoes. I do wear sneakers, but I play neither tennis nor basketball.

  4. I wish I was getting some interesting spam – mine is all the typical stuff these days.
