Thanks Helen. there are some wonderful dreamy classics out there!
This is one of my favourite Roy Orbison (April 23, 1936 – December 6, 1988) tracks.
It was released as a single in the US in 1963 and became the title track on the album In Dreams, released in July of the same year.
The song has a unique structure in seven musical movements in which Orbison sings through two octaves, beyond the range of most rock and roll singers. (source WIKI)
Sit back and enjoy.
A candy-colored clown they call the sandman
Tiptoes to my room every night
Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper
“Go to sleep. Everything is all right.”
I close my eyes, then I drift away
Into the magic night, I softly say
A silent prayer like dreamers do
Then I fall asleep to dreams, my dreams of you
In dreams I walk with you, in dreams I talk to you
In dreams you’re mine, all of the time
We’re together in dreams, in dreams
It’s too bad that all these things
Can only happen in my dreams
Only in dreams, in beautiful dreams
