100 Word Wednesday: Week 76

Bikurgurl provides us with this image for our challenge this week:

It was a long trip and Sammy was bored.
‘Let’s play I spy,’ her Dad said trying to be cheerful. ‘You start Tim.’
Her younger brother looked out of the window and said
‘Something beginning with S.’
‘Sky,’ Sammy yawned.
‘Yes!’ Tim enthused. ‘Your go.’
Sammy thought for a while.
‘Come on Sammy,’ her mother said. ‘It’s not that hard.’
‘Something beginning with C’.
Several guesses later they gave up.
‘Where the hell are they?’ her Dad demanded.
‘Above us: that’s what the bridge looks like, a row of coat hangers. Are we there yet?’

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! Due to a nightmare of a house sale in 2014, 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat until April 2017. We made strong friendships both on and off the water, and enjoyed swan and duck families for neighbours. Sadly times change and we now reside in a small bungalow a short distance from the beach on the Lincolnshire coast.

    hehe Good for Sammy! 😀

  2. That is so kid! You captured childhood

    • Actually a kid in my care caught us out with something beginning with G. We gave up and he said ‘Lawn.’ Pointing out it began with L not G he replied, ‘It’s still grass isn’t it?’ He was 8.

  3. A very cute story. Nicely done.
