Sort of.
I scored some good points, but we lost our match 2 – 1.
That doesn’t actually reflect the quality of the game as we were evenly matched, tying point for point at several stages as we played. Also, the doubles wanted weren’t missed.
There were some excellent scores throughout the evening though, with several over 120 and I was volunteered to check the scoring. Although the scoreboard is electronic, adding up didn’t come easily to some, and I thought she was joking when she started counting on her fingers. It probably explained why she was wearing open toe sandals, just in case she needed more digits!
There were some young lads on the opposing team in the men’s gallon of 1001 down who were playing for laughs which some of our side found off-putting. In all honesty, our guys didn’t deserve to win, being 300 points behind at one stage. However, ‘The Laughateers’ cocked up their chances and left double one, and the other members were used to higher numbers, so our lads managed to catch up and steal the valuable point.
Our ladies won their 701 gallon match too, so overall we won 9 points to 5, and are either second or third in the league now.
There’s no official match next week, so our captain has suggested we have a knockabout evening instead amongst ourselves. He admitted he felt we all needed the practice!
