The Daily Post Prompt today is Slight.
I haven’t been doing the DPP for a while as we’ve been busy outside and the pensitivity101 gas bag has been in full throttle anyway.
However, walking the dog on my own this afternoon for the third time (and fourth poo, which isn’t in the slightest anything to do with what follows), I came up with this.
She was a slight woman with the misfortune of having a rather pointy nose. If you turned her sideways, she resembled a zip and in a strong wind, she was likely to be blown slightly off her feet.
Her name was Sonya Wright and in her youth she was often teased ‘It’s On Yer Right’ if she’d misplaced anything. Sometimes because of her nose, her classmates would slight her appearance which she usually bore with good humour, sometimes joining in to give the impression she didn’t care in the slightest.
In later years, she became fixated on illusionists and magicians with their sleight of hand, and set about perfecting her own form of the art.
She became one of the best pickpockets in the city, but to look at her, you wouldn’t have any idea that she’d pinched your wallet or your watch with the slightest touch.
