May fever

May is quite a busy month for me, a couple of anniversaries (including ours), a few birthdays (including mine) and tonight Eurovision!
Our entry is Surie and her song ‘Storm’.
It’s not bad, but we won’t get anywhere of course because it’s the UK and Europe doesn’t like us. Not that the voting is political, fixed or bias you understand.
It’s 11 years (2007) since the Eurovision contest was on my birthday. You know how I remember? It was the year we sold the bungalow and were in ‘lodgings’ for a few months.
We were watching it on TV and our ‘host’ got bored and changed the channel. Not that I blamed them as our entry was Scooch and Flying the Flag. How dire was that, and one of our worst entries ever (IMO), which was reflected in a total score of 19 and second from bottom.

Next week is a triple whammy though.

We have the Royal Wedding and I am sick to the eye teeth with it.
I cannot get enthusiastic about it, unlike when William and Kate married in 2011.
SHE is in the news every other paragraph, and comparison to Princess Di? How dare they!
We’ve had the dress designer leak, the cake, the bridesmaids, the ‘Will the father of the bride give her away or won’t he’ saga, family grumblings for not being invited, Mum’s arrival and now I’m waiting for who is going to provide the Royal Underwear for the day, not to mention of course the Royal Garter.
The first baby will be born within a year as they can’t wait to get started on a family.
I wish them well as I do any bride and groom, but I have reservations I’m afraid.
We’ll be going through it all again with Princess Eugene later in the year only this time it will be The Fergie Chronicles again as the Firm hate her.

Also on the 19th, we have the FA Cup Final!
Not being a footie fan, I would rather watch this than the royal wedding, if I had a telly of course!
This year it’s between Chelsea and Manchester United. Good luck guys! Play your hearts out, and play fair!

We must not forget the Bloggers Bash. Now that takes priority over everything and I hope everyone has a great time!
(And a happy anniversary to TanGental too!)

Wow. So much in just one day!
I’m tired just thinking about it!

Off to get changed ready for our meal out.
Happy Birthday to ME! (extinguisher in car ready to blow out the 62 candles)

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Happy birthday, happy Anniversary! I enjoyed this. I did wonder what life was like with the Royal wedding around the corner. In the US we are getting flooded too, so I can imagine….. have a nice weekend .

    • Thank you for your good wishes. It’s a good day today!
Royal Wedding is a right pain though. This time next week they will have tied the knot and the papers and TV screens will be full of photos of the new Duke and Duchess of wherever Her Maj decides to bestow on them. I can’t wait (yawn…………)

  3. A happiest of birthdays to you! 62 years young!

And also, I agree on the wedding – I should be into it, as the wife-to-be went to the same university as me (she was two years younger, and in my brother and now sister-in-law’s class), so in theory, we have a fairly close connection. And yet, it doesn’t interest me at all.

Now, as I share a name with Fergie…perhaps I should get interested in that one (though I didn’t even know one of her girls was getting married until I read this post, so clearly I pay little attention).

    • As your family went to school with Ms M, they should have had an invite, or at least receive a bit of cake!
Princess Eugene is the youngest daughter of your namesake and Prince Andrew (apparently, according to the press, they are still the best of friends and live in the same house). When they announced her engagement, some papers showed the happy couple and reported it was Beatrice getting married!
Good luck to them and the Goldfish Bowl syndrome.
