Foodie post…… or not!

The weather turned cold earlier in the week so I raided the freezer and found some frozen root veg that was sufficient for a three day stew.
The day before, we had chicken curry sprinkled with coconut which was pretty good.
Now the weather had turned hot and sunny so cooking is the last thing on my mind, new cooker or not.
To be honest, the thought of food and what to have for dinner is getting boring again.

Shopping is a chore, and shopping for food a war zone of frayed tempers and depleting shelves, especially in this heat.
In the supermarket today, I walked through the door and there was a display stand in the centre of the foyer. Either side was a customer with an empty trolley…… and no room to get past either of them. Did they move? No, just glared at me when I said ‘Excuse me….’.
We did some basic shopping, spending just over £22, but that included 12 cartons of milk, 2 boxes of cereal, eggs, bananas, dried apricots, bread, cheese and 3 tins of pineapple in case I made my pineapple and ginger sauce.
See, boring.

You know what I’m looking forward to?
Home produce:
Onions, tomatoes, potatoes and beans from our veg patch:
Raspberries, blueberries, gooseberries and blackberries from our own bushes:
Picking an apple from our own tree to make sauce to go with our pork chops.
It will come…………. in time.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Me too. The husband got peas, beetroot, potatoes and spinach out. Tomatoes and chilli are in pots. And the nettles are on the pizza 😁

    Love chicken curry!

    • We were visiting MOH once and he said he hated sultanas in his curry. I always added them and he’d never left one! So if I’m cooking for the three of us, sultanas are excluded which is a shame in a way as Hubby and I like ours mild and slightly sweet. I’ve put in mushrooms, peppers and an apple before now, and sometimes there’s no meat at all!
