This week Nekneeraj throws out this challenge:
For today’s photo prompt, let’s do something different. Let us share our own portrait, writing something about ourselves. How about that?
This is one of the first pictures Hubby took of me here.
For once I was not working on my laptop, but writing a letter, probably to Mum.
I wouldn’t say it’s a particularly good photo of me as he caught me unawares but it reflects me at my most relaxed (look at those rosy cheeks) and content with my lot.
Looking at it, I see my Mum, just as I do every morning when I look in the mirror.
However, unlike my Mum, I don’t have her patience, skill with a needle and thread, and my pastry isn’t a patch on hers!
We shared a love of music though, but she needed the printed sheets whereas I can improvise, a natural gift passed on to me by my Dad. Mum loved to sing, or hum along if she couldn’t remember the words. I do too, but not often as we don’t listen to the radio that much, though if I have some of my favourite CDs on, I’ll sing along with them.
Mum used to read a lot, as did I in years past, and she loved to do Crossword Puzzles or Word Search grids so we’d often buy her one of the publications that always came with a pencil or pen just in case she didn’t have one to hand. I like word games such as Upwords or Scrabble, solve anagrams, enjoy a game of cribbage, and do the Suduko, the latter of which she could never get the hang of.
