Today’s prompt is Elaborate.
When I started card making, it was amazing what elaborate designs could be achieved with the right tools and embellishments.
I went merrily into a craft shop, purchased a pack of 50 blank pastel cards, loads of toppings, trimmings and sticky tape, and having parted with over £30, set to.
My first efforts were………………… different.
Elaborate yes, but so OTT it looked like I had literally stuck everything I had on one card. Actually, I more or less did.
I purchased a few more things in the way of scalpels, tweezers, fancy edged scissors, a cutting board, shape cutters, glitters and some coloured papers.
I tried to be colour co-ordinated, but the shades of the things I’d just bought clashed with the pastel cards I already had, so it meant I had to buy more blank cards, but this time in either white or cream so I also bought different sizes.
That little lot set me back over £60.
But I had fun experimenting, and my outlay wasn’t anywhere near as much as a friend who bought ‘everything’ as recommended and parted with over £200. Then lost interest.
These are a few of mine:
I still make them, every once in a while having ‘session’ and now that Hubby has bought me some trimmings and cutters again as my last lot went to charity in The Great Sort Out, I’m looking forward to having a go at some more elaborate patterns and shapes.
