Colin’s Ode to his Bean

Reginald is getting 5 star treatment.
Not only his own posts and photographs, but now poems!

Thanks Colin:

Reginald Bean

My name is Reginald
And I am a bean
A runner you now
Perhaps the fastest you’ve seen

I was potted and watered
And get TLC from Di
My response is … as expected
I’m growing upwards to the sky

I am racing two others
Who also have names
But neither are Reginald
(Or we’d be the same!)

I’m climbing up fast now
Don’t want to lose face
I’ll give it my very best
And I’ll win this race!

My response:

Douglas may be winning
But that won’t be for long,
Catching up with Hubby’s,
Reginald is tall and strong.
The canes outside are calling,
They may soon go out to bathe
And snake their tendrils upwards
Towards those sunny rays.
But the soil is sadly wanting,
They’ll each need a compost base
To snuggle and extend their roots
And rightfully take their place
In their allotted veg patch,
To produce hundreds of beans,
Photos of course will follow,
Of leafy and happy greens.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

LOL! Great job to both of you on the poems! I believe it may give Reggie just the boost he needs to catch up! 🙂

    I want to go outside
    To bathe in the sun
    Then you’ll be amazed
At the speed I can run

    Douglas and Hubby
    You’re simply no match
    For a Reginald bean
    in his own soil patch

    I will grow so fast
    A blur I will seem
But it’ll be just me … Reginald
    A very fast bean!
