Oh I so remember this classic ‘Stay With Me’ by Blue Mink from 1972. I played it for hours and knew the words within twenty four hours of purchase.
It never reached number one, but to me, a romantic 16 year old, it was one of their best.

These are the lyrics.
Oh, when you’re without love, every day is a little more
humdrum
Dreaming, always dreaming, how to make amends, how to
keep a friend
Stay with me, lay with me, love me for longer than just
your goodbye
I need a friend at the end of a long lonely day
All my tomorrows, my yesterday’s sorrows are blown to the
wind
Stay with me, lay with me, love let your loving begin
If you’re without love, (you will know) you will know
(just what it is)
what it is to be unloved, (all by yourself)
Thinking, always thinking, how to make a friend, how to
keep a friend
Stay with me, lay with me, love me for longer than just
your goodbye
I need a friend at the end of a long lonely day
All my tomorrows, my yesterday’s sorrows are blown to the
wind
Stay with me, lay with me, love let your loving begin
(Guitar break)
Dreaming, always dreaming, how to make a amends, how to
keep a friend

Oh, the memories. 🙂
Thanks so much for playing along. This is perfect! I’m not in a place to listen to it, but I for sure will. The lyrics are great! 😊
Hi Helen. Thanks for commenting and for hitting the follow button! Welcome to pensitivity101. Hope you’ll dig around and find something of interest.
I am a child of the 80s, but this one sounds sooth and I know what it’s like, when a song and its lyrics catch my attention. Learning every word is essential, as fast as possible.
I was just starting work at 16. I loved this record and probably drove everyone nuts with it.
I can’t recall hearing this one before, but it is lovely. It would be a good song to slow dance to. 🙂
Oh yeah, and we did!
Welcome to Song Lyric Sunday! Good choice!
Thank you!
Not familiar with this group but what a nice song! Smooth! Thanks for sharing! 👍
Blue Mink were very popular in the 70s. Banner Man and Melting Pot were probably more familiar. I just loved this as it suited my mood (y teenager) at the time.
