Deplete : Daily Post Prompt 14th April

I had to do a bit of shopping for Hubby this afternoon, and could not believe how depleted the stock was on the shelf.
You could understand if it was food I was after, but no, this was a simple over the counter (OTC) medicine which has been around for years.
The pharmacist on duty was also depleted in her customer care skills, being one of the most unhelpful individuals I have ever come across.
She told me Hubby would have to go to the doctor or nurse to get a prescription as that was all she had, and that the OTC I was after was no longer produced.
I was not impressed, and will never go into that particular pharmacy again.

Luckily, there is another here so I went there, asking the girl behind the counter to save my sanity when she asked how she could help me.
I told her what I was looking for and what I’d been told. She looked baffled.
‘That’s rubbish,’ she said. ‘We have loads and it’s easy enough to order.’

I am wondering now if the first pharmacy is deliberately depleting their stock reserves to save money or in the hope of selling something more expensive. The way this proprietor is going, she’ll have more than depleted stock though………….. she’ll have no customers!

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! Due to a nightmare of a house sale in 2014, 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat until April 2017. We made strong friendships both on and off the water, and enjoyed swan and duck families for neighbours. Sadly times change and we now reside in a small bungalow a short distance from the beach on the Lincolnshire coast.

It’s a good thing she does not work in our area. Bad customer service is immediately reported on our local Facebook group and it often turns out others have had similar experiences… and then comments can get out of hand and the offender is lucky not to be put in the stocks on the village green!

    • We did send in an email complaint. We had dealings with her once before, and again she was unhelpful, saying Hubby should go to the doctor, and had nothing by means of an alternative without a prescription. Sometimes they just need to brought up short with a professional nudge from the people she actually works for and represents.

She could single handidly foil plans to take common things off prescription!
