Sunday Writing Prompt “Alien Abduction”

I’m gonna love doing this!

Dumie’s parents had given him a ship for his 100th birthday to explore the planets.
He was excited as this was his first solo voyage and the galaxy was his oyster.
Using his fingered snout to operate the controls, he beamed up this strange being which according to the manual was called an Earthling.
He tried to be hospitable to his guest, but found it difficult to communicate.
He took a pride in his ship with its state of the art decor, padded seating, and top of the range gadgetry so was more than a little disappointed that his visitor wasn’t overwhelmed with his surroundings. He’d even had a translating device installed especially for this trip but had still been unable to draw the Earthling into polite conversation. If anything, he thought it rather rude for him not to even try.
His guest simply sat there and waited expectantly.
Thinking he might prefer a tour of his vessel before they ate, Dumie gestured to the Earthling to accompany him, and finally got a reaction.
It was not exactly as he’d anticipated though, as his guest jumped up on his private sleeping cot, turned round and round in circles, then made himself comfortable before beginning to snore.
Leaving him to rest, Dumie consulted his manual to ascertain what to serve for dinner.
His heavy laughter echoed along corridors and communication channels as he realised he had beamed up a canine, not a human.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

i am glad he beamed up a canine – I think he might have been disappointed by a human…
    Anna :o]

  3. James says:

I would have thought a dog would have panicked under the circumstances. A cat, on the other hand, might be totally indifferent. 😉

  4. Michael says:

Good one Di, I can imagine the scenario.

  5. Fandango says:
