Friday reminder prompt for SoCS 30 March 2018

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “bun.” Find a word that contains “bun” or use it as a word all by itself. Have fun!

Oh Linda, I had to laugh at this one as it triggered a memory of a game we used to play at Christmas for adults (get your minds out of the gutter readers, kids were present!)
We’d wrap 12 ‘gifts’ (distantly) representing the 12 Days of Christmas and put them in a large box with a list of cryptic clues and present them to a couple (harassed parents).
The idea was for them to guess what was in each parcel before they opened it. There were no prizes as such because they got to keep them all, but it was a bit of fun for some Biggest Kids in the world, and actually kicked off for the kiddies too at a later date.

The clue we gave for this particular parcel was

‘Does my bun look big in this?’

Unfortunately it sort of backfired as the recipient didn’t understand the joke.
What we’d wrapped up was a pack of these as she was always baking:

OK, I haven’t complied completely with the SoCS by bunking off a bit with my word association, but the challenge really made me chuckle at the memory as Mum had done one for us years ago, which was when we got her as a bunny girl.

Mum as a bunny girl xx

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. I enjoyed this, and love the idea of those presents! 🙂

    • It was good fun, and gifts ranged from a toilet roll to a jar of pickled onions. Half of the fun for us was making up the clues to begin with! It was very popular, especially when nobody had a lot of money. In previous years it was the Naffest gift for £1 that got people thinking. Adults spent no more than £1 on each other, so there were a lot of rubber ducks, whoppee cushions and plastic frogs on lily pads doing the rounds!.
