Daily Post Prompt 30th March

Betrayed:

I was accused of betraying a friend’s confidence when her marriage broke up and she lost her job.
There were a number of contributory factors to this, one of which being it’s difficult to be someone’s alibi if you don’t know you’ve been nominated.

We’d invited D over for a meal because he was on his own on a Friday night.
We had a pleasant dinner, and conversation was flowing.
What I didn’t know (and later explained his initial confusion) was that I was supposed to be out with his wife on a Girlie evening and he’d accepted our invitation thinking it was to be a Guys night.
Apparently, ‘us girls’ went out three nights a week, when actually she was seeing three different guys.

As for the confidence, it goes back over 40 years and I never told a soul.
However, her husband knew, and if you think a woman scorned can be harsh ………….

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
