We are quiet people who don’t like loud music, throbbing motors or boy racers.
One of the reasons we sold the cottage was noise.
We lived on a main HGV route, and despite double glazing, the noise was disruptive.
In hot stifling weather, we could not have our windows open during the day or the evenings because of noise, even though we were actually out in the country!.
It didn’t help having a RAF base local, and fighter aircraft would fly over our house all day until late evening.
Even Maggie protested once by putting her front feet on the fence and barking at the sky.

It was lovely on the boat and on the river. Peaceful and quiet, everyone respected everyone else, we were totally spoilt to believe we were the only ones around.

All good things must come to an end though, and three years on we find ourselves back in a house.
At least we are by the sea, and the sound of the ocean is relaxing, even at its angriest.
Noise will come with the holiday season, but hopefully we shall be too far away from the night life for it to be an issue.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
