When it hits the fan…………….

We have a bit of a crisis  at the moment as it would appear that the doc has forgotten to tick the all important box for repeat meds and we have now run out.
When we first came here, the system was quite straightforward and worked pretty well.
In those 6 months though, Hubby’s meds have changed and been added to, and so instead of having one large bag once a month, we have three or four extra little bags within a 28 day period, and now a vital one has been missed.
Great.
The surgery is closed until Monday, but the pharmacy is open late tonight as I rang them up (it’s a start).
Yes they have the pills in stock, but need a prescription to dispense them.
We dialled the emergency out of hours service and the on duty doctor will call us back within 2 hours.
Said out of hours surgery is 20 miles and half an hour away, but we would need an appointment to see the GP, bookable only through the emergency out of hours service.
Not a problem…………. sort of, I think, perhaps, maybe.
So we sit and wait, at least in the comfort of our own home, for the phone call.

Worse case scenario is Hubby gets in the car in a little while with the mobile and drives 20 miles while I sit and wait here. If the call comes, I can ring him and let him know so that he can collect the pills on the way home as the pharmacy closes at 11pm tonight.
I can’t collect them on his behalf as he’d have the car and I would not be happy walking the mile and a half to the surgery pharmacy on my own at night, especially late and on a Friday, even with the dog.

What a mess.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

What a colossal pain in the you-know-what! I am so sick and tired of carelessness and negligence. Grrrrr. I hope it works out for you.

  2. That is horrid! It happens to others too…but it is still horrid what we are put through!
