So cruel, and yet so funny,
‘Twas a sin to take one bite,
This delight to fill her tummy,
Was off the charts all right!
It ticked the food group boxes
Perhaps not quite as it should,
She could be as sly as foxes
But it wouldn’t do any good.
He was so proud when he presented
Her birthday surprise dinner
From the bar he often frequented,
Which wouldn’t help getting thinner:
So cruel, but oh so amusing,
She loved him at least for trying,
Her diet was simply confusing,
He must just forget the frying.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

“It ticked the food group boxes” Oh, how true!!! Loved it!!!

  2. James says:

    Now I want a burger.

    • I always want a burger James (and I can’t have one……. well I could if I made it myself, but somehow its not the same as that lovely juicy one in the picture!)

      • James says:

Actually, I can make a better burger at home than I can get in most restaurants.

      • To be honest, I think you’re right! At least we can control what actually goes in the mix.

      • James says:

True enough up to a point. Our food supply has changed radically in terms of nutrition over the past 70 years or so, thus the food we buy at the supermarket may not be what we think it is. My wife buys from ranchers who raise grass fed beef to help with this.

      • Hubby and I don’t eat a lot of meat, and prefer chicken or turkey to beef if we have it. Our stews are all veg, which we prefer to get from the market. Once we start growing our own onions, spuds, tomatoes and green beans, I’ll be freezing down the surplus!

      • James says:

Cool. I’m a big meat eater from way back and my long suffering wife is working hard to change that.

      • I once had the butcher in fits because I asked for 100g of stewing beef. He thought it was for the dog and I said it was for our stew!!! Now we don’t have meat in our stews at all as we prefer just veg. My Dad liked his meat and two veg though.

  3. Michael says:

Good one Di, good the food groups were catered for….down here we have burger night on Friday evenings, if we get excited we have an egg on it as well.

    • Oh yum! I love a nice juicy burger, favourite is with mushrooms and pineapple. I can’t remember the last time I had one though………. flat pack patty or otherwise.
