It’s just six weeks since you passed away,
We couldn’t get there, such a sad day.
Four weeks ago we laid you to rest,
A lump in my throat, an ache in my chest.
That February morning I kissed you goodbye,
Laid four roses red, two either side.
I sang for you, my voice strong and clear,
I cried for you, and wished you were here.
I write you a letter, so much news to share,
Then lay down my pen, as you’re no longer there.
I hope to see you one night in my dreams
As I smile and recall such fond memories.
I sense your presence, and yet you still hide
Just out of reach, on the Other Side.
