‘It’s a reverse pool Sid!’ Bobby cried.
‘What?’
‘Come on in and you’ll see!’
After removing his shoes and socks, Sid entered the water.
‘You idiot! It’s freezing!’
‘What did you expect? A hot spa? That’s not what I meant. Come closer and look.’
Bobby stood a few feet away from his friend, his ankles barely covered.
Sid however was at the edge and almost up to his knees!
‘It’s deeper at the sides than it is in the middle, see?’
‘I don’t care.’ Sid said. ‘It’s cold and I’m getting out. My mum will kill me if I ruin my trousers.’
Disappointed that Sid hadn’t fallen for his joke and continued to wade towards him,
Bobby stepped off the rock he had covered with shingle.
He splashed his way back to the edge and Sid helped him out.
‘Idiot!’ he said again, playfully punching him on the shoulder.

Kids. *rolleyes* 😀
Fun times James.
A fond reminder of days playing in the sun without a care in the world. Nice one.
When I was a kid, we used to walk across heathland and there were some lovely little brooks. Sadly it’s all a massive housing estate now.
Wonderful and sweet story of two boys playing in the creek. Cute story!
Thanks Joy. It was a fun write.
It was fun to read!
lovely interaction.
Thanks Michael.
What a great trick to play, sorry I meant a great story to write.😊
Actually I did something similar in Loch Lomand, standing on a rock and pretending the water was quite shallow. They didn’t fall for it either, shucks. 🙂
What a cute story.
That sounds like the kind of trick I would fall for 🙂
haha! Thanks for commenting 🙂
