Valentine’s Day over the years

I’ve written a few posts on Valentine’s Day, these are probably my best
Be Mine for Always not just my Valentine
Just for you This Valentine’s Day

Not understanding what it was all about apart from telling somebody you loved them, I got a card for my Mum, signing my name in my best handwriting and rows and rows of kisses. I was about 6.

I never found out who sent my very first Valentine’s Card more than 50 years ago (it was probably my Dad or Bro).  I remember it had a Thomas the Tank Engine on it though.

Hubby and I don’t need a special day.
We tell each other we love each other every day, and he buys me flowers because he thinks I might like some rather than for a specific reason. The roses we bought 2 weeks ago from which we selected four buds for Mum are just ‘going over’ now.

Red roses have actually been absent for the past few days, and are now back in the supermarket buckets at a hiked price.
I had to laugh as for £25 (a bargain actually), you could purchase 100 red buds. I had visions of a Casanova giving one each to his countless girlfriends saying he’d bought them a single rose to show his feelings. Oh I can be such a cynic!
We’ve had a ‘special meal’ today though, a half and half showing willing with the diet.
I prepared the potatoes and veg and we shared a piece of cod from the chippy, removing the batter. Maggie had a little, but no batter either as it upsets her digestive system, so a little Valentine treat for her too.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
