100 Word Wednesday: Week 56

Thanks to Matthew Henry for this week’s image:

It was Wednesday.
It was the same every week, his Groundhog Day of life if you like.
The alarm always seemed to fail to go off, and in his rush he’d burn his breakfast toast.
The subway train was running late, and as soon as he emerged on the street, the rain started.
He splashed his way across the road, the amber lights winking at him from the puddles.
He’d had enough, and headed for the coffee shop to break the dull circle.
Her smile lit up his day, and the coffee revived his spirits. Who cared about the rain?

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Delightful Di, who does care about the rain when you have a smile and a coffee.

  2. Desiree B says:

Life is always better when there’s someone to help forget about the day’s drama. Beautiful writing!
