Burnt Offerings

Well, not quite, but pretty close.
I used the oven for dinner yesterday, making sure it was hot before I put anything in.
We’re not sure if it’s the thermostat, the knob position or something else as we don’t have a manual, and even getting the basics downloaded from the internet, we can’t read half of the symbols on the front anyway, which don’t line up in the same order as the diagram.

Luckily for me my trays fitted alongside each other so the chicken (1), pigs in blankets (2), roast potatoes and parsnips (3) and stuffing balls (4) all had a space when needed.
Yorkshires were a quick zap in the microwave. Bit of a mistake as they went soggy 😦

The veg was OK as all that went into a saucepan, and making gravy was a doddle.
Sadly though the smoke alarm went off again,Β  so a new cooker is in the wind for next year. I just hope we don’t have to tweak the kitchen about too much.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Carol wanted a fresh turkey, and so left it until Christmas Eve to buy it. As a result of limited selections, we ended up with a 22-1/4lbs turkey… for the two of us + Ray! πŸ™‚

I think you did pretty good! We decided just to snack all evening, nap, and read πŸ˜‰ I made Christmas Dinner the day after — and it was just as fine πŸ˜‰ Many happy returns of the day!

  3. It was all rather nice actually! Day two tomorrow, just how we like it.
