Thursday photo prompt – Portal – #writephoto

This is my contribution for the Write Photo prompt this week.

Alex had found the tunnel by accident and it took the sting out of living in a town where he didn’t want to be and a rented house he hated.
He was drawn to it every day until it became the centre of his world and he spent every moment in this inner chamber hidden deep in the bowels of the house, shut away from everyone and everything.
Things began to change.
He heard voices, saw lights in the darkness, yet felt no fear.
The visions came then, and suddenly he was a part of it.
The walls extended outwards, the portal closed and there was no going back.
He stepped towards his destiny.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Wonder what that destiny was/is? I sense an expanded story here.

  2. Iain Kelly says:

Sounds like a haunted house horror story to me. Very evocative.

  3. Sue Vincent says:

I love the open-endedness of this…so many possibilities…and it sounds as if he felt he had little to lose…

  4. I’m imagining his destiny being a poltergeist who haunts the corridors of the rich and the famous 🙂

Lovely, sometimes we need to use our imagination to escape from what suffocates us.
