Thursday photo prompt – Magic – #writephoto

Oh, the magic of snow!
So very apt as that has put in a surprise appearance round here today!

This white blanket cocoons Nature’s secrets:
In the cold of Winter, She sets to work.
Casting out the old and dying,
She cleanses the earth in readiness
For things to be reborn.
Stripped tree frames reach skyward,
Their barren branches laid bare,
The forest and its occupants sleeping
While She does not.
All too soon ice returns to water,
New life flows to the extremities:
Buds spring forth,
Green shoots tentatively show their heads
Whilst ‘bells and ‘drops show their faces.
Winter is not the end,
It is the magical beginning.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Iain Kelly says:

I’m already looking forward to Spring returning too. Nice words.

  2. Michael says:

    Freshingly excellent Di…loved your response.

  3. Now I want to see the snow again 😦 Context: We don’t have even winters to speak of where I live, let alone snow, so the only times we’ve seen snow is when we’ve traveled abroad :-=

  4. Sue Vincent says:

This is really beautiful, Di…and I agree with your perspective. Winter is not an ending, but a beginning 🙂
