There was no way she was going to fawn all over his self-possessed ego.
She had exhausted all her favours bar one in her efforts to thwart his advances, but the conventional position of the Highest House was that the youngest daughter be betrothed to the eldest son of their counterpart in the next realm.
It was bad enough she had to come to him as a chaste bride, her dowry preceding her. The thought of him devouring her innocence made her shudder.
She wanted no part of it, absolutely none, and had become quite animated in her refusal to walk through the matrimonial Arc to her destiny.
As the old witch mixed the yellow pollen with the seeds of the white sweet clover, she concocted a brew that would have him sprouting from the marital chamber to escape the changeling that had taken her place.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Great response Di, I did love this bit: “she concocted a brew that would have him sprouting from the marital chamber to escape the changeling that had taken her place.” the mind boggles at the possibilities…

LOL@the ending – what a great twist! I loved that aspect – totally unexpected – and a changeling, what an idea!
You’ve used the wordle really well – this is a great flash piece – and I can see this “fair” bride to be, head bent close, watching as the witch works her magic. Definitely intriguing!

Great wordling this week Di 🙂 thanks for playing along
