Another reblog for you:
Excitement that is.
I have been on the phone to three people today.
The first was the garage in response to a text message reminder about the car going in for MOT and Service on Thursday.
I think I spoke to Bimbo of the Year last week as I asked for this to be done at the garage where we bought the car, but she appeared to have booked us in forty miles away according to the initial confirmation message.
I rang and spoke to her again (fortunately or unfortunately, you pick) and she said she would book us in at our garage of choice.
Imagine my surprise today when it stated THE WRONG GARAGE on the text message.
Rather than go through the service option on the call menu, I waited to be put through to the garage itself, so forgive me for doubting you Miss BotY, as he confirmed we were indeed booked in with him and it was just a hitch from the call centre messaging system.
On to the second phone call.
We are going up to Lincolnshire tomorrow for me to see our new home.
I am certain I will love it, after all, I saw it on the internet and arranged the viewing for Hubby last week (yes, just 8 days ago). The Estate Agent will meet us at the property, so I can measure up for curtains and check out a few things to help decide what to take up with us on the first trip when we collect the keys.
The third was to the solicitor.
Ever hopeful, I asked if there was anything for us to sign yet as we would be in the area tomorrow.
The good news is that one of the searches has come back, and they are waiting for the others, together with the paperwork from the vendors regarding fixtures and fittings.
I’ve said we’ll be available on the mobile should they need to see us, but I don’t want to be too pushy as the vendors might get p155ed off with us!
It will be a long day tomorrow, but at least we can share the driving, and I can take some pictures of our des-res to be! Maggie can also test drive the grass for pee-ability.
(Sigh) No matter where in the world we live it seems we all have to deal with the same stupidity, negligence and people who just don’t give a damn. I cannot tell you how often I go through similar situations myself and how often my friends share their similar experiences with me. Is it something in the air?
Hubby says it’s usually because there’s a ‘Y’ in the day! 🙂 🙂
LOL!! Good one.
Ha, he has his moments!!
😀
Perhaps it’s the concept that “If you pay peanuts……..you tend to get monkeys”?
Certainly not grease monkeys. These days, true grease monkeys like Bro and my late BIL are so few and far between thanks to modern tehnology, computer chips and auto tuning.
Exciting stufff eh! 🙂
Gotta watch my blood pressure, but YES!!
I’m as excited as you are! You have made us all feel like we are a part of this! I’m expecting to be invited to the house warming! 🙂
I am so pleased you think so Kate. There will be photos before and after just as we did on the boat, but as we have so little, it will be a lot of empty cupboards and no furniture, but you know what? We don’t care! 🙂
I’m with Kate – It’s going to be great
It is indeed…………. provided the red tape doesn’t throttle me first
Good luck with your move. Which part of Lincolnshire are you moving to, if you don’t mind me asking? I live in Lincoln. 🙂
Really? Not too far from you then, on the coast up the road from Skeggie!
Some of the coastal towns out there are really nice. We’ve always preferred Mablethorpe to the very commercialised Skeggie.
When we lived in Lincolnshire before (2007-2014) we’d often go to Skeggie for a day out. You are right though, it is very commercialised, but out of season, much more in line with our way of thinking! We almost bought a property on the main road, but heavy traffic as well as no parking for visitors put us off.
