News on the home-to-be front…………..
We are a step closer in that the list of fixtures and fittings have been received and forwarded to us.
Yeeee-ha! The vendors have decided to leave the washing machine, so that will save us a couple of hundred pounds for the time being. Every penny counts!
Contracts have been received and will be checked by our solicitor over the next couple of days. No news on the local searches though.
Everyone here is being so kind, and we have been offered furniture and bits and pieces for our new home. We have nowhere to store larger things, but the fact that our friends are being so generous is quite overwhelming.
We went down to the lock up today and had a little sort out. We purchased two more storage boxes and tidied up all the loose stuff as we have been given two pairs of fully lined curtains, a lovely picture, and of course the jigsaw which we have put in a frame now.
When we have a definite date, we shall purchase two more boxes for what we have here, which isn’t very much now as we took a lot of our surplus clothes down a couple of weeks ago. The bulk is bedding (duvet and pillows) which we hope can be vacuum packed into biscuits for transportation.
By our calculations, we will need a small van with a capacity of about 4 cubic metres.
It’s at times like this I wish we had a Star Trek transporter and could energize our belongings at the slide of a lever!
Exciting stuff! May it all continue smoothly for you all (3)! 🙂
Oh I hope so Colin, I really hope so!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you guys. You so need a “home”! 🙂
Thanks Colin. I am trying so hard not to get excited……….. but I am!!!!!
🙂
New beginnings are as exciting as they are unsettling. I wish you lived on our side of ‘the pond’ so I could help you out. For one thing, we’ve got a pickup, which would probably be useful moving things – as long as it wasn’t raining.
Bless you for your kind thought.
That’s exciting thing are moving forward 🙂
Beam me up Scotty! 😀
Yay!
I love that you can move in that size car – Paul and I are tailgating this weekend and our car of a similar size is so full, we have to put a carrier on top for all the extra stuff!
We have had a rethink, and due to the size of van we’d need which has no bench seat, we have nowhere for Maggie. So the plan now is to use our own car and move the immediate stuff in one trip, stay a few days, then Hubby will come down on his own and fill up with as much as he can and come home, then both of us will come back a few days later to say our final goodbyes and pick up anything we’ve missed. In short, it will save us over £100 in money, we can work to our own timeframe, and Maggie won’t feel left out or be left behind.
That sounds like a good plan – and one I am sure Maggie is happy about as well!
The van thing is on a yoyo of velcro at the moment, on one minute, off the next. Were just keeping our options open (and sort of undecided) at the moment!
Oh, to have had that Star Trek transporter…I hear you ! Good luck moving forward !!
Thanks Van. We are getting closer……..
Have been AWOL for a while getting ready to move also, so pleased to hear your great news on my catch up. God speed to the three of you on your new adventure.
Thank you so much. We are getting closer, but still no date for completion.
