Sunday Photo Fiction – September 3rd 2017

This is my second Sunday challenge this week. Check out the details here:

I’ve always wanted to have a go at driving one of these, and then ‘parking it’ in the supermarket to do my shopping.
How I’d manage though suffering from claustrophobia, could be a problem!
I’ve had a ride on one though. Honest.

It’s going back a few years to the Dorset Steam Fair, a time when we could afford the £9 entrance fee,  which this year was £22 ‘on the day’ or £17.50 if paid for in advance.
My best friend was alive then, and we met up there with our hubbies as we lived seventy miles apart.
They had a tank display, and rides for a fiver.
The men held on to the dogs, and us gals got aboard.
We stood with our backs against the bar, and bumped along with everyone else, waving madly at our partners as we were driven by.
Then we went up a hill, and balanced precariously over a crater in the ground.
You could hear the screams (ours were the loudest) for miles as we were ‘dropped’ inside to continue the course.
It was exciting, it was different, it was hysterically funny, and we were bruised for days!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
