#SoCS Sept. 2/17 – Birth/Berth

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “birth/berth.” Use one, use ’em both, but whatever you do, have fun!

They often refer to the birth of a new era.
I suppose that can cover a multitude of instances, when we move to pastures new or have a change of circumstances.
It was like that for us in 2014 when we bought the boat.
We were after a residential mooring and there were few available. Still, being in the right place at the right time talking to the right bloke on the right day, we were able to acquire a berth here on the marina.
It was home for three years, and we enjoyed our life. Neither of us had done anything like it before, so indeed it was a birth of sorts, and we bore it with aplomb.

Circumstances change, there were a chain of events, and we decided to sell.
Now we are facing a rebirth of house living.
I’ve done my sums, I’ve prepared my spreadsheets, and we are waiting.
That’s the hardest bit……….. waiting for our ‘new baby’, in this instance, a new home.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
