Pink is the challenge choice this week:

I personally find pink a restful colour, it brings to mind naive childhood blushes, spring flowers, and a funeral.
Don’t despair, it was a lovely tribute to a lovely girl who died at the age of 17 from a savage strain of leukaemia which snuffed out her young life in a matter of weeks.
Her favourite colour was pink, so it was asked that attendees to her service wore something of that hue rather than the usual dark and sombre attire such an event attracts.
Her coffin was pink, surrounded by the lightest pink flowers, the chapel packed with her friends and family decked out in an array of pink ties, trousers, jackets, skirts, blouses, dresses and scarves.
“You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt played as 6 of her male school friends carried her in.
The service was a celebration of her life, the many hearts and souls she touched in such a short time.
There were tears of grief and sorrow, but this changed to laughter at the end when the music of choice was ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’, a personal favourite of hers, and so very much in keeping with her personality and attitude, even at her lowest ebb.
That was 12 years ago. I think of her sometimes, whenever I hear either of those songs, or simply when I see pink petals en masse or smell the fragrant aroma of pink roses.
I like that they made her funeral more of a celebration of her life, with all the pink, but it still makes me sad to think of youngsters dying.
She was a smashing girl, and it was indeed very sad when she passed away. But her personality shone through even on that day.
Aw that is lovely 🙂

Lovely story. Glad to have that context to the photo.
Sounds like a beautiful moment!
It was a moving tribute to her life as she was very popular. A tragedy she didn’t get to see her 18th birthday a couple of months later as she had been looking forward to having a party, but then she didn’t know she was ill then..
My best friend just lost her niece a few days before her high school graduation from leukemia as well. It’s so sad.
My condolences.
