Add a bit of crunch

I’ve been experimenting in the kitchen this week, and apart from my bread pudding and greengage and blackberry crumble (even if greengages are not speed fruit 😦 ) I have found a way to use up the crumbs from savoury biscuits or crisps. I suppose you could think that’s sad, but read on!

MSM is quite partial to her cheese crackers or crisps, and the latest thing to tempt her taste buds are Cracker Crisps.
If you haven’t tried them, they are delicious, especially this flavour, and equate to about one syn each.
Anyway, MSM has a container in which she puts her savoury crunchies, and I was a little bored with my salad, so pinched a couple of crumbs to sprinkle on top of my lettuce and mayo.
I have no idea what the exact calories or syns were, but not that many as it was only crumbs afterall, but it was really nice!
So I guess rather than ditch the crumbs left at the bottom of the packet, why not keep them in a container to crunch up your salad (or crush your own).

Just a thought to brighten up an otherwise dull dinner.

Note:
I shall be missing SW again tonight as we will probably be late back.  The home scales have been jittery and undecided, so I’m hoping to have had the equivalent of another ‘same’ week.
Just one new pic to show willing in the food stakes as there was a special offer on king prawns last week.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. I like the idea of keeping the bottom of the package crumbs for a little crunch. I will have to try it for myself!
