Here is one of Sunday’s photo challenges:

The students took their seats in the auditorium and waited for the Professor to begin.
They loved his tutorials, they were always so interesting.

“Here we have an enigma.
Circa around two thousand nine hundred and seventeen, this specimen has no sexual organs or outer extremities. There is no evidence of decapitation as the head is perfectly preserved, a complete entity of a species at that time.
We are still to determine how mobility and dexterity were achieved, though it is believed that over the centuries they evolved to control matter and objects by thought processes alone.
The skin is flexible, though discoloured in comparison to that in previous millennia.
Again it is believed that this may have been caused by atmospheric changes and decay in their ozone, or climatic phenomena that has yet to be researched.
You will note the ears have become flattened against the side of the head, no longer open to sound, which again suggests communication by thought.
Nourishment is another mystery as there is no stomach or digestive system, neither are there lungs for breathing purposes.
It is therefore no surprise that Man became extinct by the year 3000.”

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and have a terrible sweet tooth. Best friends are Hubby, our dog Maggie, Bro in NZ, MSM and MOH (and his dog). I am also a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! Due to a nightmare of a house sale in 2014, 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat until April 2017. We made strong friendships both on and off the water, and enjoyed swan and duck families for neighbours. Sadly times change and we were once again house hunting until September. We now reside in a small bungalow a short distance from the beach on the Lincolnshire coast.

Well written, P101. If man became extinct, who are studying about him?

  2. We could well be ‘heading’ that way! Delightfully different.

The Dummy – a creepy short story

  3. James says:

Zager and Evans recorded a song called “In the year 2525.” It was a pop hit in 1969. Look it up.

  4. I loved In The Year 2525. I introduced it to my daughter about a month ago.

I would be surprised if we actually make it to the year 3000

Oh wow scary thought! I wonder whose studying this specimen. Or if she was really even in human?
