Normal Service

Has gone AWOL.
This morning after breakfast, I suddenly realised that I had done no shopping for almost a week.
In a way this is a good thing as it means I have been using up what we had in the fridge, freezer and cupboards, but equally it is a bad thing as technically we have nothing sensible in to eat!
We are off again tomorrow, another early start and long journey. At least it is going to be relatively cool before the heatwave hits later in the week.

Now I may not have been visiting the local supermarkets, but the shelves, especially fresh produce, were almost empty today as I did some basic shopping for bread and potatoes, plus some plain biscuits for the journey.
I passed on the fruit, it looked tired, hot and bothered.
I could say it was because today is Sunday and there are no deliveries, but I have another theory.
Cue price hike.
We saw it a little while ago and when new stocks were available, they all had a nice new shiny price tag of around 8% higher than before.

Oh please let’s have a positive day tomorrow and find something suitable!
Then I can stock up as we did previously and not have to worry on a week to week basis anymore!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and have a terrible sweet tooth. Best friends are Hubby, our dog Maggie, Bro in NZ, MSM and MOH (and his dog). I am also a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! Due to a nightmare of a house sale in 2014, 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat until April 2017. We made strong friendships both on and off the water, and enjoyed swan and duck families for neighbours. Sadly times change and we were once again house hunting until September. We now reside in a small bungalow a short distance from the beach on the Lincolnshire coast.

  1. Good luck on finding your home tomorrow.

  2. We’ve been victims around here of the “same price, less food” now for a long while. It seems to have slowed down now, but for a couple years, it was rampant.

    • Less for more has been the norm here too for a few years, but I just use less and pack out my meals with cheaper ingredients or more veg. My food budget has gone more than a little haywire lately as has the diet.
