Years ago, I had what probably every other girl had in her wardrobe, a LBD.
Every special occasion, party, birthday or presentation saw me wearing this frock which lasted for years. I paid something like £30 for it which in those days was a lot of money, but I was running a Mail Order catalogue and was able to spread the cost over a few weeks.
When I moved back to Poole after my previous relationship failed, it still fitted so I continued to wear it, even lending it to my sister on one occasion as she couldn’t afford to buy anything new for her firm’s do.
It wasn’t completely black though, being trimmed with pink piping around the cap sleeves, bodice and hem.
As with all good things it eventually wore out, was washed once too often, and whilst it didn’t exactly fall to bits, it did go blotchy in all the wrong places and looked more like a faded dishrag than a dress. I was gutted as nothing I purchased afterwards was as comfortable or reliable as my ‘Old Faithful’.
I have high hopes for the dress I bought yesterday, as the design is similar and I’m hoping I get to wear it more than once.
And for those of you who guessed which one we bought?
You were all right, it’s the blue one and I’m hoping to buy navy accessories.
