June 1, 2017 prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story about feeling content. Explore what is contentment and any direction will do. Go where the prompt leads.

To be Content:

I don’t need complications.
I’m a simple girl who likes the simple things in life.
They say the best things in life are free.
A walk in the park, birdsong, the scent of lilac on the tree, the gentle trickle of water from a country stream, dipping your toes in the water on a hot day, the sound of kids laughing, ducks and swans with their young, a tender smile from the one you love.
So many things we take for granted or miss altogether because we are too busy trying to survive in this cut and thrust world.

About pensitivity101

Retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination, loves to cook, favourite food everything especially chocolate and jelly babies. Best friends are Hubby and Dog, Bro, MSM and our Dominoes Friend aka MOH (and his dog). Also a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! Due to a nightmare of a house sale in 2014, 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat until April 2017. We enjoyed swan and duck families for neighbours but times change and we are once again house hunting.

Great response Di, I think you have nailed it very well…the simple things in life, works for me..

  2. You made me feel content just reading your reasons to be content.

  3. Kalpana Solsi says:

The best things in life are free and we miss them and take them for granted. So true. Talking a leisure walk in the woods while listening to the music of Nature is so soothing and inviograting.

  4. susanzutautas says:

Content with all of life’s simple pleasures 🙂 Great flash!

  5. Deborah Lee says:

Contentment…so easy to lose in the hustle and bustle. A calming read. 🙂

  6. Charli Mills says:

Yes! A few days ago, hot and sweaty from the lab, mind a whirl with VA bs and what “needs doing,” I stood and inhaled the scent of honeysuckle with my sister-in-law and we shared a moment of life. Great flash, Di!
