Big Weekend

This weekend marks an annual festival/carnival for the town with a market, side stalls, games and rides, and a parade scheduled through the High Street on Saturday afternoon and boat parade from the marina on Sunday.

Hubby and I walked down to the lock yesterday to see what was going on, and although it was not as much as we’ve seen in previous years, the atmosphere was still great.

No climbing tower this time, but the water spheres were there and the kids therein were having a wonderful time.

We walked up to the High Street for the parade, but there was nowhere Hubby could sit down apart from perching on a window frame. I went and got us a couple of coffees and when I came back, he had found a place on a bench. Maggie didn’t like the noise too much, but was able to get under the seat out of everyone’s way.

I love to see the kids all dressed up. I was told the theme this year was clowns, but I think it was more in the circus line judging from the costumes. It didn’t matter though, most were having fun, and I’ve edited the grizzlies out of my photos!
The parade walked down the High Street and then back up again in case you thought Id reversed the following images!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Looks like the weather cooperated too.

    • It was a lovely afternoon, but boy did we have some heavy rain in the evening! It’s been lovely today for the boat parade and we heard a lot of horns going up river!

  2. I love a good parade – it looks like a great time!
