It all started when he’d learnt a new word at school, Pâro, one his parents had never heard of, and felt smart for the first time in his life.
It had summed up his childhood perfectly.
Tired of the jokes, teasing, ridicule, and pile of BS that came his way, his thirst for reading and knowledge led him to vicarious scenarios from the somewhat primitive surroundings of the garden shed.
Gone was the scrawny kid with the nasal spray and in his place a superhero, astronaut or wizard, depending on his mood.
His fictional alter egos were only the thin end of the wedge though.
Who would have guessed that in later life in the culinary world, no-one could disagree that his visual creations from humble mashed vegetables were out of this world.
