Sunday Strange microfiction challenge

I rather like this painting Jane, there seems to be a lot going on over breakfast!

It wasn’t much fun having to stay in bed all the time, but she was nearly over her ailment, and at least had been allowed to have Jack and Kit for company.
She said her prayers every night to thank God for surviving another day and again every morning when breakfast was presented as her appetite was finally beginning to return.
Once again,ย  she had boiled eggs with toast soldiers and a weak milky cup of tea.
Putting her hands together, she recited her thanks for the food in front of her, thanked the cook for preparing it, and looking up to make sure the maid had vacated the room, thanked Jack and Kit for eating it, as she hated milky tea and boiled eggs in particular.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! Due to a nightmare of a house sale in 2014, 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat until April 2017. We made strong friendships both on and off the water, and enjoyed swan and duck families for neighbours. Sadly times change and we now reside in a small bungalow a short distance from the beach on the Lincolnshire coast.
