Song Challenge (Music that means something) Day 2

Day Two of this challenge from Willow, but with recent problems I am having to modify it slightly by posting the lyrics of my choice rather than a video.

The rules are:
Post a song a day for five consecutive days.
Post what the lyrics mean to you.  (Optional)
Post the name of the song and video.
Nominate 1 or 2 bloggers each day of the challenge.

I openly nominate anyone who wishes to participate rather than individuals.

My second choice is by Il Divo. I love these guys and their harmonies. They’re not bad to look at either.

The lyrics and melody of this are absolutely beautiful, and another piece I can play.
However, it evokes a sad memory for me as it was playing on the radio March 5th 2005 when we received the phone call from the vet about Barney’s X-ray results and we were faced with an awful decision we weren’t ready for.
Much as I love it, I haven’t played or listened to it since.

“Every Time I Look At You”

I used to think that I was strong
I realise now I was wrong
‘Cause every time I see your face
My mind becomes an empty space
And with you lying next to me
Feels Like I can hardly breathe

I close my eyes
The moment I surrender to you
Let love be blind
Innocent and tenderly true
So lead me through tonight
But please turn out the light
‘Cause I’m lost every time I look at you

And in the morning when you go
Wake me gently so I’ll know
That loving you was not a dream
And whisper softly what it means to be with me
Then every moment we’re apart
Will be a lifetime to my heart

I close my eyes
The moment I surrender to you
Let love be blind
Innocent and tenderly true
So lead me through tonight
But please, please turn out the light
‘Cause I’m lost every time I look at you
Lost. Every time I look at you

My first two choices have had particular personal meaning to me, but perhaps the challenge itself is intended for songs that stand for or represent something, so apologies if I’ve misunderstood.
Perhaps 3, 4 and 5 will do better!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
