I can so identify with internet problems!
I was told today that there were just too many people (visitors!) here and we have been without a connection since 9am until now.

Still, before it crashed, I managed to get my picture prompt, so worked off-line and came up with this.

The Tri-lunar eclipse now complete, they stood on the high points of their dwellings to wait.
This phenomenon only occurred once every three thousand years, so no-one had before witnessed or experienced it, relying entirely on the documented chronicles over preceding millennia.
Some would be whisked away to another galaxy to fulfil their destiny whilst those left behind had to prepare for the onslaught Cleansing that would follow when the Dark Halo dispersed and the now deadly sun became visible again.
Who had the better deal?
Those taken were for experimentation.
Those left at least had a chance of survival.

Best friends are Hubby and Dog, Bro, MSM and our Dominoes Friend aka MOH (and his dog). Also a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! Due to a nightmare of a house sale in 2014, 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat until April 2017. We enjoyed swan and duck families for neighbours but times change and we are once again house hunting.

Nicely creepy — builds to an unexpected twist at the end. Well done.

It really is a bother this internet problem … one gets used to just turning on the computer and away you go… so I really empathize with you!
You tale is really very well written and makes one want more .. what’s behind the culling, why does the sun become deadly … seems to me you have potential here for something a bit longer – perhaps a novella?
